Is what you're drinking toxic?

I always drank decaffeinated coffee and tea; Until one day I got curious and looked into how it was actually made. Aren't you curious about how you can have something that is caffeine free when its natural state is full of caffeine?

There are a few ways that caffeine can be extracted from a coffee bean or a tea leaf. The methods of extraction include soaking the beans in water, and then in a chemical solvent to remove the majority of the caffeine. Another way of extracting caffeine would be through a water process and then soaking it in a more natural solvent, which is less harsh in terms of what we are ingesting into our bodies.

When choosing a "decaf" coffee, opt for one that is made with the "swiss water process" or the "sparkling water decaffeination process," instead of the generic decaf labels that you most likely grab off the shelves.

Not only is this chemical process used for coffee, but it is also used to make "decaf teas."

It's best to stick to herbal teas if you're not looking for that caffeine kick. Tea is not only good for your body, but they soothe the soul on those days you need it!

Don't get me wrong, everything in moderation is okay to have; however, if these drinks are part of your daily routine & you are drinking multiple cups per day, then it is probably better for your insides to stick to the least chemically processed option.
